About This Role
As an Automation Specialist, you'll transform manual, error-prone processes into robust automated systems that clients can rely on. You're the person who takes a workflow that's held together with spreadsheets and email threads, and turns it into a clean, monitored pipeline with proper error handling, retries, and observability. This role is about making automation boring in the best way—stable, predictable, and well-documented. You'll build systems that run reliably in production, handle edge cases gracefully, and can be maintained by others long after you've moved on to the next challenge.
Mission
Turn messy, human-heavy workflows into reliable, observable automations.
Outcomes You'll Own
- Stable throughput pipelines with clear SLAs, retries, idempotency, and alerts
- Documented, versioned workflows that any engineer/analyst can operate
- Measured savings in hours, errors, and cycle time
What You'll Do
- Build orchestrations with Python/JS plus tools like n8n/Temporal/Airflow/Serverless
- Connect SaaS APIs, webhooks, queues, and data stores; design schemas
- Add human-in-the-loop steps, review UIs, and exception handling
- Create monitoring dashboards; runbooks; on-call rotations (reasonable)
- Partner with FDEs/Consultants to evaluate agent reliability and guardrails
You'll Thrive If You
- Love checklists, clean handovers, and 'it just works' outcomes
- Can translate requirements into working Python/JS quickly and aren't precious about refactors
- Are comfortable in client calls, live demos, and fielding practical questions
First 90 Days
- 30 days: Replace a manual process with an observable automated pipeline
- 60 days: Add resilience (backoff, DLQs), metrics, and cost controls
- 90 days: Template the workflow and teach others to extend it
Example Projects
- Revenue ops: lead enrichment → routing → outreach agents → CRM hygiene
- Logistics: document intake → extraction → validation → TMS updates
- HR: candidate intake → screening agents → scheduling → feedback loops
